I have installed and used most functionality of Office 2003 on Windows 8.1 before and most things worked relatively well.

Windows 8 also doesn't have XP Mode, that was only in Windows 7, but Windows 8 can still use a virtual environment with Hyper-V and VMware. You can check if your Windows is 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (圆4) by right clicking on Computer, My Computer, Local Computer, This Computer or whatever it's called on your Desktop, then left-click on Properties and look at "System Type" in the window that comes up. Even Office 2003 is now EoL and hasn't had security updates for about a year (Same time Windows XP went End of Life). In addition, both Office 2000 and Windows 2000 are EoL and have not had any security or functionality updates in quite some time. This thread is referring to Office 2000, not Windows 2000. But it's probably time to look into replacing that database with something modern, there is likely software available to replace the system you've created. Odds are you have a home-spun database that was written in Access 2000 that is not compatible with newer versions, so i understand that. Officially Office 97, Office 2000, and Office XP do NOT work on Windows 7, but since i've personally installed Office 97 and Office 2000 (specifically Access) on Windows 7, i'm not convinced that Office 2000 is not compatible with Windows 8.īut as Kkyishkkii brought up: Why would you want to run a 13 year old productivity application? You may need to run it in compatibility for Windows XP SP3, or possibly even in XP mode (is that still a feature in 8?) but there shouldn't be any reason why Office 2000 won't work on Windows 8. Office 2000 does not run on Windows 7 64bit though, so Windows 8 64bit almost certainly will not support it.

I can't say for sure, but Office 2000 works with Windows 7, so it should be possible to run Office 2000 on Windows 8.
